YOGA BREATHING

Yoga can be started at any age and it is one of the only exercises that you can  practice and reach new edges for a lifetime. Unlike other exercise, such as running or tennis in which you eventually reach a point where you need to back off in order to avoid harming your body, yoga is a practice that continues to strengthen your body without negative impact. Instead, due to the practice of deep breathing and non-aggressive lengthening of the muscles, the body is able to absorb more oxygen. Oxygen, our life source, is key in making the body function at its best. The more you give it, the more it gives back.

If you were to put each alveoli sac, end to end, (which is what our lungs are composed of) they would fill up an entire tennis court! Imagine how much oxygen you were designed to consume. When you practice yoga, you strengthen your lungs by consuming more oxygen than normal and the increase of oxygen circulates throughout your entire body. This increase of oxygen is distributed to each cell, which makes it able to function at peak capacity. As you slowly lengthen your muscles, more oxygen can be consumed in the cells of the muscles, which makes them stronger. In yoga, you never lose. It is a win-win combination.

Yoga is a great practice to incorporate with another sport that you currently love to do. Most sports strengthen the muscles; however, it is imperative to lengthen them in order for them to truly be strong and flexible. Yoga poses bring the muscles closer to the bones, which ultimately helps to prevent osteoporosis. From a vanity standpoint, it changes the shape of your body by giving it a more contoured physique. The increased ability and practice to consume more oxygen gives your blood and each cell what they need to continue to regenerate and function at its peak. Your five pints of blood circulate through your body approximately 5000 times a day. Help it help you by giving it what it needs...lots of oxygen.  By keeping the regeneration process of the cells going, you slow down the aging process. No other exercise does that. The practice of yoga keeps your mindset and body in regeneration mode.

You want a good figure? You want good health? You want to be relaxed? You want to be happy while and after you exercise? Well...try yoga. It is an exercise of a life-time!
