EVOLVING VS REVOLVING

Do you know someone (perhaps yourself) who complains about the same issues in their life? If you take a moment to truly observe what is taking place, you will realize that negative thoughts simply create more of the same. Everyone knows what it is like when the same thought keeps repeating itself in the mind. It gets on your nerves and you want to make it stop. But, the more you think about stopping it, the more it persists. Now imagine yourself physically in the middle of a revolving door; you keep pushing the door until that space comes available to walk out. If you don't make the choice to walk out when the space opens, you must go around again. That routine would get very old and tiresome. However, the average person typically chooses the physical exit the first time around to get to their next destination. What most people do not realize is that this same concept applies to your mindset.

For many, there is comfort in staying within their mental revolving door despite the repetitious nature of it. It's what they know. However, if you never leave your comfort zone, you cannot move forward...or, evolve. Instead, you stagnate. Stagnation leads to digression. Believe it or not, digression does not simply occur in the mind; but eventually materializes in the physical body. Your mind's energy affects your body's cells. The cells regenerate every seven years. If you live in the past or maintain a constant stressful mindset, eventually your cells will get the message to stop the regeneration process and start degeneration. You literally age yourself faster physically with a negative mindset.
Once you take that first step out of your revolving door, a whole new set of opportunities emerge. How you choose to approach them opens new doors. Like Bob Barker used to say on The Price is Right, the choice "which door would you like to choose" presents itself to you. Every door in life has something behind it that presents the opportunity for spiritual growth. Plus, unlike The Price is Right, you have truly an infinite number of doors to choose to open. But first, you must take the first step out of the revolving door within your mind.
With the practice of yoga and meditation, as the body loosens, the mind loosens. As the mind loosens, the heart opens wider. Yoga enables you to become much more aware of what your body is internally feeling beyond the physical realm. Self-awareness is the first step in catching that gap. Yoga helps you to learn how to help yourself. It trains you to live in the present. As you master the mindset of living in the present, you will evolve. The evolving process will lead to revelations that will change your mindset forever.

Don't let the comfort of your learned convictions or assumptions keep you from walking outside the door. Always have the mindset of being a student of life. There will always be something new to discover or see from a different perspective. The practice of yoga will give you the ability to "think outside the box" and expand mentally and spiritually.
